The Semantic Web

Posted on May 27th, 2005 by Liz

Definition: The Semantic Web is the abstract representation of data on the World Wide Web, based on the RDF standards and other standards to be defined. It is being developed by the W3C, in collaboration with a large number of researchers and industrial partners.

The Semantic Web, which some of you may be familiar with this term, is something that just came across my radar as an interesting melding of web technology, metadata, and way to make information easier for humans to comprehend by providing context to an idea. Wikipedia:WikiProject Librarians

Many of you have probably already used Wikipedia. Wikipedia:WikiProject Librarians looks at the ways in which librarians could be involved with the resource. “We librarians flatter ourselves that we know a thing or two about organizing information. Firefox or IE?

I keep both Firefox and IE on my computer, but use Firefox 99% of the time. Michael Sauers has compiled ten reasons why your library should use Firefox.
