Students compete in technology contest
Posted on July 25th, 2005 by Brenda16,000 students from more than 92 countries are competing in The Imagine Cup, a technology contest. Winners win an all-expenses paid trip to a huge technology festival (the 2005 festival is in Yokohama, Japan!).
The Imagine Cup has launched careers. For example, Tu Nguyen, a winner in the 2003 Imagine Cup, designed a tool to bridge the language gap between the English-speaking waiters and the Vietnamese-speaking chefs at his parents’ Vietnamese restaurant in Omaha, Nebraska. After receiving a number of job offers, Nguyen went on to open his own consulting company based on his Imagine Cup application.
Thinking of encouraging those young computer users at your library to enter the contest? Registration for 2005 is closed, but the 2006 contest is just around the corner….
