More re: MySpace
Posted on February 22nd, 2006 by BrendaI must have MySpace on the brain lately — it just seems to be jumping out at me everywhere I look! Here’s a transcript from a talk delivered by Danah Boyd from the American Assoc. for the Advancement of Science. It’s called “Identity Production in a Networked Culture: Why Youth Heart MySpace” and I think it’s a fascinating discussion of the phenomenon that is MySpace.

You mean you don’t have a myspace account yet???
I’m shocked. It’s a hoot and a really easy way to start a blog.

I find it’s pretty amazing in teaching blog classes how both adults/students tend to look for which age group they want to communicate with. For example, a lot of adults consider blogger more adulted themed, myspace more teenager themed, and they come to class knowing that.
Proof that community and cliques extend beyond the classroom and workspace.
